So, a lot has happened since the last time that this thing was updated. Several holidays, a doctor appointment or two, a few first things, and 2 vacations have passed. I guess that I should go in order (to the best of my knowledge) of the things that have came and went without being documented.
A vacation to the state of Indiana was up first. The trip started out great and we were making good time. We left at around 11pm and drove through the night so that Bryson would sleep on the way. We stopped for breakfast at McDonald's in Cullman, AL and Bryson ate quite a bit. He had some pancackes, eggs, biscuits, bacon, and of course some milk. After eating, he wanted to run around to burn off some energy and stretch his legs after being cooped up in his car seat all night. The next stop, was at a gas station around the TN/KY state line and it was not fun at all. Bryson got sick all of a sudden for the first time ever. He wasn't running a fever, just vomiting everywhere. After changing his outfit and cleaning him up, we were back on the road. We stopped at a rest area so that we could all get out and get some fresh air, use the restroom, get new diapers, etc., etc. Shortly after leaving the rest area, I got a phone call from my brother Thomas when we were about 20 miles outside of Louisville, KY telling me that my dad was in the hospital and that we should come there first. As soon as we got into the town of New Albany, IN, Bryson got sick again. We weren't so sure what was wrong with him. Upon arriving at the emergency room to see what was wrong with my dad, Bryson got sick once again. While we were there, we decided to go ahead and get Bryson checked out. The doctor that saw us couldn't find anything wrong and said that it was more than likely a stomach virus and to give him Pedialyte for the next 24 hours instead of milk. The next day(Saturday, October 10) was the family reunion for my side of the family. Bryson had been feeling much better when he woke up that morning, so we decided to go. The reunion went ok, I was able to see a lot of my family that I hadn't seen in a few years. Later that night, we got checked into our hotel room and went to the Harvest Homecoming, which is a carnival with rides, booths, games, lots of good food, and a ton of people.
We had an amazing view of the Ohio River from our hotel room! While we were on vacation, we didn't really get much of a chance to do anything since all of us ended up being sick. I did get to visit with a good friend from high school that I hadn't seen in years, as well as a good friend that used to be my neighbor!!! After all of us were better, it was time to head home. We stopped at Toys R Us and noticed that the back tire on the car was flat and the car was leaking gasoline. The car was then taken to Walmart about 2 blocks away to get the tire fixed. After waiting at Walmart for over an hour, we were informed that they could not change the tire on the car because fuel was pouring out. Luckily, there was a Chevrolet dealership across the street that we were able to take the car to and get it fixed. Praise the Lord, we didn't have to pay a dime to get it fixed because it was a factory problem and under warranty! Finally we made it home with no more problems!
Halloween was next. Bryson went as a pirate for Halloween this year and as usual, was adorable. We went out to Pier Park for trick-or-treating and Bryson ended up getting about a half a bag of candy. Of course all of it was for mommy and daddy, since he was still too little to eat it. After a long night of trick or treating, we went to Margaritaville for dinner and had a great time! The lady that was on stilts making balloon animals kept coming over and smiling at him and of course he would smile and talk right back. He seems to be very popular with the ladies. Lol.
Thanksgiving was next. It was held at my brother-in-laws new house and was an overall great family dinner with the exception of Bryant having to leave to go to work. As always, Bryson had a ton of fun running around and playing with his cousins. He was even able to participate in the football game although he had no idea what was really going on. As long as you have fun though, that's all that really matters.
Christmas came next and Bryson made out like a bandit! When Daddy came home from work Christmas morning, he came upstairs to wake us up so that we could see what was under the tree. Bryson had so much fun opening up all of his presents. He didn't quite understand that there were multiple presents to open and got mad that he couldn't play with the first toy that he opened, which just so happened to be one of several books. After presents, we got ready to go to my sister-in-laws house for Christmas dinner where Bryson got more presents to open. He was too excited about playing with his cousins and their new toys to open his presents. After finally taking a break, he got excited that there were things for him to open and tore into the packages.
New Years Eve and New Years Day is up next on the list. New Years Eve, we loaded up in the car and headed out to Pier Park for the New Years Eve festivities. There were 7,500 beach balls that were dropped at around 10 or so for the kids. Bryson was lucky enough to get 2 of them. There wasn't really much to do after getting a beach ball, so we headed home to get to sleep and headed to Jacksonville, FL the next day for the Gator Bowl that the Florida State Seminoles were playing in. Turns out, it was the last game that Bobby Bowden coach. AS soon as we got into the parking lot of the Jacksonville Convention Center to get on the bus to take us to the stadium, Bryson started doing the Seminole chop and the warchant. He chopped and chanted the whole game. It was an excellent game, despite the cold and rain, agaist West Virginia!!! Florida state ended up winning the game and Coach Bowden was carried off the field.
A vacation to Disney World came up in February!! We stayed at the Pop Century Resort and will most likely end up staying there again because it was really nice and had great service from the staff. We all had such a wonderful time while we were there. On the first full day of vacation, we went to the Magic Kingdom where Bryson got his first haircut ever at the Barber shop on Main Street. To document the haircut, we got to keep a packet of Bryson's hair, a certificate, and a pair of Mickey ears that had the words "my first haircut" embroidered on it. While walking down Main Street, we happened to catch the first parade of the day and Bryson got super excited and started clapping and saying "Yay!" We then rode several rides and saw a few shows before having lunch at the Cantina across from Pirates of the Carribean. After lunch, we walked around Disney some more and Bryson met most of the Princesses. He fell in love with Sleeping Beauty and she planted a big kiss on his forehead. Cinderella was next in line and then Belle. As long as the characters weren't in a full-out costume, Bryson did fine with them and wasn't scared. Daddy finally got to ride the Dumbo ride! Overall, it was a great day!! Disney's Hollywood Studios was the next day and Bryson got to meet Mator, Lightning McQueen, and Handy Manny! He was so excited, as they are a few of his favorites. We saw the Mickey Mouse Playhouse show and Bryson LOVED it. He was dancing and clapping his hands the whole time! The best part of Hollywood Studios for Mommy and Daddy was the Aerosmith Rock n Roller Coaster. Got to love the fast pass! We went to Epcot the next day and, like every time we go to Epcot, it poured down rain on us. We did however get to ride Test Track though, and that was fabulous. We also got to meet several other Disney characters including: Snow White, Chip & Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto. Bryson was more interested in running around instead of meeting the characters. Later that night, we all went to the Olive Garden to meet a friend from an online board for September 2008 babies for dinner. It was so nice to meet them in person. Bryson had a blast with Julianne and was just chatting away. Our last day at Disney World, we spent at Animal Kingdom. There wasn't much to it and after spending the day at the park, we headed home.
March came in like a lamb and Bryson got sick for the 2nd time. He was running a fever of 103.7 on a Saturday, so he was promptly taken to the Emergency Room since his doctor's office was closed. The doctors at the E.R. didn't know what was wrong with him because he had no other symptoms besides the fever. He was given a shot of antibiotics and when the fever came down we were told that it was quite possibly a viral infection and to come back the next day for a follow-up. Upon arriving, his fever was up to 104.1 and he was given another shot of antibiotics along with a prescription for amoxicillan and told that it was probably a sinus infection or an ear infection, but they didn't know. We were released while his fever was still 102.7. Bryson was miserable for a few days and then developed a cough and runny nose. He finally got better and around the end of the month had his 18 month check-up where he received 1 shot and weighed 24lbs and was 30.2 inches tall. Everything looked good at his appointment and he won't have to go back until he turns 2 and then it will just be for checkups and no more shots until he starts kindergarten!!!!! That was great news to hear.
Well, April is here now and we have a ton of stuff to do this month. I'll update more later. Ta-ta for now
